Steve Jobs Dies At 56
The co-founder and former CEO of Apple, one of the worlds leading technology companies, has passed away after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 56.
In a press release, Apple said that Jobs had been “the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives.”
Tributes have poured in from around the world, and Apple stores globally have been the scene of countless Apple fans, offering tributes and memorials to the highly respected Jobs.
New CEO Pays Tribute
Tim Cook, who became CEO of Apple when Jobs stepped down in August, a mere two months before his passing, said that Jobs had left behind “a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
Rival Companies Pay Their Respects
As well as the Apple fans and employees, companies which traditionally compete with Apple were unstinting in their praise of the late co-founder of the company.
From Bill Gates at Microsoft to Larry Page at Google, and Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook, Apple has had its impact on them all, and they did not hold back from acknowledging their respect for him, despite their many differences.
