Google Street View Live For SA
Although the official announcement is only slated for later today, Google’s map integrated street view for South Africa is now live. Google Street View is Google’s integrated 360° photography taken, as the name suggests, at street level.
It’s been available for US maps since 2007 already, and other locations around the world have been steadily added, but since last year, Google’s specialised “camera cars” have been driving round SA, taking panoramic photographs at street level, to add to Google Maps.
Check Out Google Street View
To try out the Streetview, all you need to do is go to Google Maps, search for the location you want, and drag the street view icon, (a little man above the zoom slider) over the map.
After a couple of seconds, the streets which have been covered will be highlighted in blue, and you can drop the icon at the location you choose, to access the panoramic photographs.
In the image below, you can see a screenshot of the highlighted streets for Johannesburg.

Once you’re in the street view mode, you can zoom and rotate the viewpoint, or use the small map window in the bottom right to reposition the street view icon.

Another really cool application by Google.
