Few names stand out as much, in the field of website analytics, as that of Avinash Kaushik, co-founder of Market Motive, author of Web Analytics: An Hour A Day, and Google’s official Analytics Evangelist.
A Mechanical Engineer with an MBA in Finance and Information Management Systems, his career has largely focused on decision support systems from both business and IT perspectives.
Analytics Expertise
Always deeply enamoured with the internet, and the huge potential he saw within it, Avinash accepted a position at Intuit in the early 2000’s and became steadily more involved in the analytics field, growing his expertise as he discovered the complex layers of indispensable value that analytics can provide for online marketing.
A regular speaker at conferences, universities and companies, his presentations proved so useful, and his insights so penetrating that, after regular urging from his audiences, he began writing his highly acclaimed analytics blog, Occam’s Razor in 2006.
About his blog, Avinash has said, “The core purpose of the site will stay unchanged as long as I can help it: to educate folks on the topic of web research and analytics and to put forth a alternative point of view to what else is out there.”
Three years later, he is still succeeding admirably. And aside from his extensive knowledge of the subject, his greatest skill lies in conveying even complex information in terms that make it easy for everybody, from absolute beginners to experts, to apply his insights and benefit from them.
Keeping Analytics At The Forefront
Since then, Avinash has started his own consultation firm. He continues to speak regularly, and sits on the board of advisors for Coradiant, Commerce360, iPerceptions and The University of California Irvine.
His book, Web Analytics: An Hour A Day, debunks common myths and leads readers on the path to gaining actionable insights from their analytics efforts. It shows how to move beyond clickstream analysis, why qualitative data should be your focus, and provides insights and techniques that will help you develop a customer-centric mindset, without sacrificing the company’s bottom line.
It has been translated into several languages, including Portuguese, Korean and Polish, and all proceeds from sales are donated to The Smile Train and Médecins Sans Frontières.
Highly Recommended
We really can’t recommend Avinash, and the resources he provides, highly enough. We’ve always been greatly impressed not only with the quality of his information and the depth and accuracy of his insight, but with his approachability, friendliness and generosity of spirit.
Do yourself and your business a favour, and visit his blog for what may be one of the most valuable analytics resources on the internet. He’s Google’s analytics guru…and we don’t mind admitting that he’s ours as well.
