An interesting detail has come out of the ongoing court case between the Discover Group (including Discovery Life) and competitor Liberty. The calculations on which they’re basing their interdict application have shown how much the group spends on marketing.

According to the application, Discovery Life has bought 8.161 million Google Ad impressions, and 34 million Facebook and Instagram ad impressions, over the past 3 years, generating around 5,000 conversions (requests for quotations) per month. (It was not revealed how many of those conversion became sales.)

Huge Advertising Budget

Combined with some large television campaigns, the past 3 years saw them use an advertising budget of R377 Million. discovery Vitality on the other hand, spent only R115 Million over the same period.
